Job 19:25-27 | "I know that my Redeemer lives ... And after my skin has been destroyed ... yet in my flesh I will see God; how my heart yearns within me!." |
Job is a believer to the extent that even God says (Job 1:8): "There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." Still the greatest tragedy and grievous sickness struck this faithful man. We read pages upon pages in the Bible how he and his friends wrestle with the question why God allows these terrible things to occur in his live. On their own they can not obtain an answer. Job knows that the trauma that he experiences is not Gods punishment for his sins. There must be another reason for all his chastisement. God must have a reason for his sufferings. Despite all that he has experienced and his wrestling with God in this regard. Job knows above all that His Redeemer lives. Everything does not end here. Even if the sickness destroys him, he knows that God will remain faithful and take Job to Him. He will live to see God. How He yearns to attain this goal in the midst of all his troubles. We can be as certain of God. Not because we are so unique, but because God reassures us that He loves everyone who believes in Him. With Job we can say that we know our Redeemer lives. Our Lord Jesus went through the agony of hell and death to save us this anguish. In this way He ensured that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but receive eternal live (Joh 3:16). Thus we can also, amidst our troubles, yearn for the eternal life where we will see our Lord. |
