LIGHT INTO DARKNESS (20)

2 Corintians 12: 1 - 10 (10) | "...when I am weak, the I am strong." |
Nobody knows what this "thorn in the flesh" was what Paul is speaking about. What ever it was, this thorn was something inhibiting Paul in his word. Sickness can make one impatient and exasperated, specially when it is a chronic illness that does not subside. Paul prays that the Lord must relive him of this ailment, but the Lords answer is that his grace is sufficient.
The Lord does not necessarily immediately deliver us from our crisis. He operates differently: "My power is fully available, precisely when you are weak." With this the Lord says that Pauls ailment keeps him humble and contrite before God. This lets him always look humbly towards God for strength. His ailment prohibits Paul to become haughty and to think that it is he himself who attains all the success in Gods service. With his illness and weakness Paul and all other people realised that it was the Lord who revealed His power in Paul so that he could continue to do his work.
Accept that under your present circumstances you cannot dictate what should happen, but that God will bless the doctors with wisdom and deftness of hand.
Accept that you must now be humble and contrite - then you are ready for Gods strength to be manifested in you. He placed you in a hospital bed so that you can realise that in difficult times only Gods power can save you.
How do you feel today?
Bad - if you trust in yourself
Good - if you build on His strength.
